The countdown timer is a plus for so many things. Casio puts only a stopwatch function in its cheaper watches and that just won’t do when grilling, baking, making tea or needing an alert for any ‘must notice now’ event. Both should be standard features and the 291H has both countdown and stopwatch style timers. Size: 50.5 x 50.4 x 13.5 millimeters (versus 48.9 x 42.8 x 13.4 for the DW-5600). Those who find the 5600 series too small may prefer this larger size. The larger size of this watch also means larger digits on the display. The watch also has bigger buttons that are operable with gloves. Toshio possessed some knowledge of electronics and set out to make a calculator using solenoids. After dozens of prototypes were tested, the desk-sized calculator was finished in 1954 and was Japan's first electro-mechanical calculator. One of the central and more important innovations of the calculator was its adoption of the 10-key number pad; at that time other calculators were using a "full keypad", which meant that each place in the number (1s, 10s, 100s, etc ...) had nine keys. Another distinguishing innovation was the use of a single display window instead of the three display windows (one for each argument and one for the answer) used in other calculators. [1] [6] Admittedly, the overall design here is not the best we’ve seen from Casio, but it is not entirely horrid to look at either. This style will appeal to some, and not so much to others.

As far as style goes, however, it leaves much to be desired. While not really necessarily an ugly watch there are similar looking watches from Casio that are easier on the eyes. Casio was established as Kashio Seisakujo in April 1946 by Tadao Kashio [ ja] (1917–1993), an engineer specializing in fabrication technology. What we can conclude here is that this is yet another solid watch from Casio. In terms of build quality, and pricing, you get a pretty decent watch at a very affordable price. It was an early digital camera innovator, and during the 1980s and 1990s, the company developed numerous affordable home electronic keyboards for musicians along with introducing the first mass-produced digital watches. So, should you get this watch? If you are looking for a good, inexpensive sports watch, and you like this style in particular, then yes, The Casio DW290 will work for you. If there is one thing that is great about Casio watches, it is the fact that they produce good quality, durable, functional watches at extremely affordable prices. The Casio DW290 is one such watch.

The DW290 has also been dubbed the “Mission Impossible” due to the fact that it was featured in the 1996 film of the same name starring Tom Cruise. Cruise was seen wearing the watch in this film. When does a tech-guy not use a smartwatch? I had a Pebble (by Julie’s push), an Asus, and now own two Samsung smartwatches – but for me, it’s when I tire of everyday charging and / or being hyper-connected. And when I want guaranteed water resistance (water-proof requires serious proof) and would like to wear one timekeeper 24-7, for days on end. Other than that, all of the different features and settings can be accessed and changed using the 4 buttons around the case. Points to note in the features, are that it does have a split time feature for 1st and 2nd place times. Additionally, the calendar comes pre programmed all the way up to the year 2029, so you probably won’t have to set it. There is a downside to the alarm feature in that you can only set 1 alarm. Other Casio watches allow for multiple alarms to bet set.

There are 2 other color variations. The 1AVCF with gray LCD, silver-gray bezel combo, and the 1BVEF with gray LCD, silver-gray bezel and a red surround panel under the crystal.
