Thane is patient and shows her again and again that he is not out to hurt her, we love a secret cinnamon roll. Now that day has come, forcing her to come face-to-face with what she’s hidden from: a dangerous, dark-haired, warrior king determined to marry her.She’s the key to destroying the Void or reviving its creator— the long-dead Black Mage she has a mysterious connection to.

It was interesting to see the connection between the two of them grow, despite no loner having a mate bond. After she’s shoved into a black carriage pulled by six ominous steeds, Layala makes plans to take her captors’ lives and free herself. They displayed a mature relationship and I really liked that at times they were able to trust and talk to each other about aspects that they were concerned about. Now I’m NOT accusing anyone of anything and I won’t ever deny that every piece of literature takes inspiration from other pieces of literature. From the first page itself the whole vibe of the book felt off (yes I'm gonna take the vibe of the book as a valid reason to dislike it).I’m excited to see what happens with Layala and Thane as I didn’t realize it would be more than 2 books.
