As a current young adult who moved from her quaint English hometown to the other side of the World, South Korea, to escape just this, I can relate to the situation wholeheartedly. In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond. We find her on “a beautiful new planet” whose marketing material promised “a meaningful new life; are you ready? It should have been a win for me - a possible murder in a hazing gone wrong, family secrets, plenty of intrigue - but it just fell flat.

And if she does have regrets after arriving on Nyx, is there anything that she and the other inhabitants can actually do?If everyone in the family would just TALK to each other, there wouldn't be a problem but the last thing these people can do is communicate.

The favourite reference of mine was the influence of the permenant sunshine within the setting of Nyx.I really enjoyed reading Scarlett's sections: her observations are cynical and perceptive, her voice convincing, her quips sharp and her cynical humour very funny.

The narrative is not written from a first person perspective, but it is contained to Iris' view directly and often comments on her internal thoughts and feelings.
