To stop blablatages the OD9 Maxon is a replica of the same original TS9 Ibanez, simply because it was manufactured by Maxon. The Ibanez TS9 today have nothing to do, so they are the pale copies. Like most players I have bought many pedals over the years but come the revolution if I'm told I can only keep one this is it! Three knobs and a switch has contrler should go for the most experienced pedal (almost) in the world. I 've never had overdrive pedals, 30 years since I played guitar I always prfr the distortion of a Mesa or the crunch of a Marschal, but reading this force and this about the legendary Tube Screamer, I inquired and presto! adopted!

Its hard to explain exactly why..but there is a singing musical quality in the tone which I don't remember my Ibanez TS-9 in the '90's having to just the same extent!.....its a very natural pedal to play..and thats one thing about it,you can really play it,not just stomp on it and it seems to work with you and co-operate with your intentions....I'm fortunate to have acquired some nice old guitars over the years and whether its with PAF,original Fender Wide Range,P90's,Fender Tele and Strat single coils it always seems to bring out the best...I've yet to find a guitar or amp it won't work beautifully with... I compared it to my Bixonic Expandora. Expandora The rapper is a bit more distortion in the way ....

The TOD-9 takes Maxon’s classic OD-9 circuit and adds a tube gain stage at the front end to create an ultra-compact, tube-driven tone machine.

The Maxon OD9 includes an exact replica of the printed circuit TS9 of the time but it also includes a Tru Bypass, which explains the absence of certain components because their functions are managed by the DPDT switch (it is good tps is a bit interested in electronics before distort the notice of beliefs). I pretty much use this ON during all the times so I get teh most out of my distortion sound, but it could also be used as a booster just for leads and solos, giving you more compression, sustain and grip to the sound.The NJM is smoother sounding and less compressed than other Op Amps, offering superior sound quality with low noise. The TOD also features Maxon’s In-Rush Current Control system - As soon as power is applied to the pedal, a small current is applied to the tube and begins heating it at a very low voltage (much like a tube amp standby switch) - This system dramatically extends the tube life.

With the Tube knob at zero, the TOD sounds exactly like an OD-9. Engage this control and experience the unmistakable magic of tube tone – a big, FAT, natural-sounding bottom end and the characteristic tube “sag” that makes lead lines sing. The TOD-9 features internal voltage doublers that bump the incoming 9 VDC up to 30 VDC for stable tone with low distortion and increased headroom.Maybe someone would say that's bull because they're both just tubescreamers, blah blah blah. I've heard all that before and I still disagree. Let your ears determine what sounds good. All I can tell you is I've been through all those and I told you what I prefer and why. In 9-volt setting the Pro+ sounds and functions like the standard OD-9 with the added option of a healthy +3 dB of midrange boost at approximately 800 Hz (actual frequency is dependent on Control settings) – great for cutting through a band during solos. While the Maxon OD-9 is true bypass, the input and output buffers are retained. So it has a vintage-correct circuit, but the buffers are only in the signal path when the pedal is switched on. The sound of the Maxon OD-9 is very transparent and doesn't alter the tone of your amplifier that much (the Tone option does very little but adds some small colour to your sound) which is actually perfect for an OverDrive pedal.
