Everything about this feels entirely at odds with the console's more premium feel. Countless titles and developers could have benefitted from a refresh of the Switch's aging components, so it's a shame Nintendo didn't respond to the clamor from both developers and consumers with the console approaching its sixth anniversary.

If you want your Switch to be a strictly portable system, the Nintendo Switch Lite is a good option. It’s cheaper than the base model and is slightly smaller, but do keep in mind that, unlike the base model, the Lite’s Joy-Con controllers aren’t detachable, and the console can’t be played on the TV.

The estimated annual energy consumption when the wired LAN connection is maintained during Sleep Mode. The Nintendo Switch OLED lets you choose between two screen settings: Vivid and Standard. Vivid is the default setting and provides extremely punchy and vibrant colors, which many will find pleasing. Standard, meanwhile, is more akin to the original Switch's color setting and provides a more natural and accurate picture. By heading to System Settings > System > Console Screen Vividness, you can see which suits you best. If it weren't for the larger screen and new pristine white Joy-Con controllers, you'd be hard-pressed to notice any design differences between the Switch OLED and the original Switch. However, look a little closer, and several changes can be found.

The Switch OLED's display is still only 720p; however, games and text still looked sharp and legible when using the console in a comfortable position. The estimated annual energy consumption of a console when used for gaming an average two hours per day for a whole year. Even though the original Nintendo Switch was approaching its fifth anniversary when this released, the Nintendo Switch OLED model offers no performance boost whatsoever. The enhanced display aside, the best Switch games look and play the same as before, with the new console having the same Nvidia Custom Tegra X1 processor and 4GB of RAM as its predecessor.

Recent official screenshots of Nintendo Switch Sports show off an upscaled 4K resolution. (Image credit: Nintendo) The flagship of the new Nintendo console is, without a doubt, the 7 ”OLED screen. Significantly brighter than older LCDs, it ensures vibrant colours and impressive contrasts. Crisp and fluid, the display reaches a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, but it is unfortunately not anti-glare and may show some gaps when playing outside. The sound also takes a step forward compared to the previous model thanks to larger and more powerful speakers. New Developments Under the Body

Of course, not all games are as chunky as the examples above. Here's a small list of a a dozen popular games currently sitting on our Switch and the amount of storage space they occupy: Game Once the microSDXC card is inserted, a system update will be necessary. The new 7-inch OLED display is the most prominent new design feature, and it's surprisingly impactful, despite only being 0.8 inches larger than the original Switch's 6.2-inch screen. As a result, the Switch OLED is slightly bigger than its predecessor: it's 0.1 inches longer, at 9.5 x 0.55 x 4 inches (W x D x H), but it still feels immediately familiar in the hands. The OLED version of Nintendo Switch has no big news inside. The technical characteristics seem to be the same as the past model, starting from the nVidia Tegra X1 processor. The only real change concerns the increase in internal memory, which raises from 32 GB to 64 GB. Even the battery does not bring about improvements. According to Nintendo the battery guarantees a gaming experience that goes from 4.5 to 9 hours. The Joy-Con have remained exactly the same, and sadly there is no support for Bluetooth headphones.
