AHM - UK wins hands down. The reissue has pretty much no advantage and the UK has better bass and vibrancy.

The cover art is a play on words; if you look at it from a distance, you can see it's a close-up of an ear, with the surface of water superimposed over it. Hence, "waves of sound." These things come up in Floyd covers quite a bit, if only you take a minute to study it. DSOTM - Early UK and MFSL beat reissues. PRO USE also good if you like high end but expensive. Reissues are EQd too high. WYWH - I prefer the reissue becaused its EQd a little higher so voices and things sound more realistic than UK originals. UK has a bit more bass because of it and sounds smoother but less in the room.

The other songs are pretty good as well – the first three being far better than the last two of Side A, which feel slightly uninspired. And I don't know who decided to put footage of football chants on the end of “Fearless” but it was an incredible decision. Bizarre, yes, but incredible as well. This isn't one of the great Pink Floyd canon albums to me, but it shows that they're getting there. And it's hard to argue with that really, isn't it? the mfsl sounds more like clear cd and a bit colder next to the really nice and warm 1u press. even the cover print is kind of blurry and looks like a bootleg print next to the beautiful textured original 1u cover with the phosphorescent blue colour. If the band felt the story held any resonance with their own personal trials, they didn’t show it overtly. “Fearless” ends with a recording of a football crowd bellowing out the anthem of Liverpool F.C., framing its tale of perseverance with the simple good feeling of an underdog defeating a rival. Mason could never understand Waters’ insistence on this strange coda, especially given that the bassist was a devoted Arsenal supporter.
