Additionally, I like the midsole and outsole in this model and how they blend together. The Floatride Energy Foam midsole is lightweight and the full rubber lug-pattern outsole provides adequate traction while also remaining lightweight. The flexweave knit upper results in breathability yet durability, so you definitely don’t have to worry about your toe poking a hole in the toe box after a few workouts with burpees or lunges. What’s most interesting about both of these models is their new implementation of reworked midsole foams. Previously, the Nike Metcon 6 and below didn’t really feature much of an insole at all while the Reebok Nano models also featured minimal midsole constructions. Another aspect to like about this model is how lightweight and maneuverable this cross-trainer is. Compared to the Reebok Nano X and Reebok Nano 9, the Reebok Nano X1 offers a lighter construction overall. The upper mesh breathes well and is maneuverable. It’s made from TPU and seems to work – as it’s one of the features that Nike keeps around every year.

According to Tal Short (Reebok’s Senior Product Manager) this was the most tested element of the Nano X1’s and has been incorporated with the purpose of increasing overall comfort and ‘runability’ of the shoe. As of this writing, there are 19 women’s options, including takes on the X1 like the Grit and the Adventure. Each of those comes in multiple color options. During this time breaking the shoe in I could feel the differences and changes that had been made in the upgrade. Most noticeably, the heel collar. In fact, it’s insane just how cushioned the Nano X1 Vegan’s are when you consider how good they are for lifting. Some criticism has been levelled at the Nano X1’s by hardcore lifters for not offering the same support as previous generations of the shoe. Compared to other popular CrossFit shoes, such as the NoBull Trainers and Nike Metcons, the Reebok Nano X1s have much more cushioning. In my experience, the Nanos also have more forefoot flexibility and a toe box better suited to most people.The Nano X1s are constructed with the same Floatride Energy Foam that Reebok uses in running and HIIT shoes, while NoBulls and Metcons tend to feel much more flat. There are pros and cons to both types of shoes for use during CrossFit workouts. At times, the material at the bottom of the laces can bunch up in the regular Nano X1, an issue that isn’t really present in the Adventure and GRIT. The Nike Metcon 6 has a wide tongue with decent padding. The X1 has a narrow tongue that is not well padded. The Metcon 6 wins hands-down in this category. For those that need or want a tougher Nano X1 – there will be Flexweave Grit option soon – that’s more like the traditional Flexweave you are used to. Here’s the Nano X1 with the Flexweave Grit upper. Overall, those are the biggest and most prevalent construction callouts that relate to performance for the Reebok Nano X1. Reebok Nano X Vs Reebok Nano X1 The Reebok Nano X1 Vegan features the same technology as the Nano X1 and retains all the key performance attributes you’d expect of this award-winning silhouette – it’s just that the materials used to make it have had a sustainable, 100% animal-free upgrade. The other big difference we get from the X1 is the cushion in the midsole (the part between your foot and the outsole.)With the firm’s Floatride Energy Foam built in the forefoot, there’s an added bonus of cushioning when you need it. This is ideal for high-energy activities, such as sprinting but doesn’t ruin the firmness needed when it comes to more intense exercise. It’s this that makes the Nano X1 the most versatile shoe in the series yet. When it comes to longer distances more drop is better – that’s why so many running shoes have 10mm of drop. I do often find with Reebok that the sizes come up a little big. I am typically a UK size 6 (US size 8), and tend to find with Reebok that I am a size 5.5 (US size 7.5).
