But I gotta say, this book was quite a chunk with +900 pages, and then I was waiting for that punch in the jaw at the end of the story - Cara Hunter style, which was there but we've had stronger punches in the previous books.

And, what does it have to do with a shocking, sensational crime from the late 90’s, that’s recently been turned into a Netflix’s documentary series? With ups and downs in pacing the plot was cleverly constructed and it was impossible to predict what was coming next, making Hope to Die all the more compelling right until the satisfying ending. And yes, this is based on a true story, but since other creative liberties were taken, I think it would've been worth it to make the motive a bit clearer.And despite a large cast of characters, I feel connected with them after reading 5/6 books in this series. I love giving my readers different ways to explore the story and I'm such a geek that I do all my artwork myself.

Written like others in the series, with lots of police interviews and TV scripts amongst other formats making up the bulk of the text. The most effective one here by a mile is the transcripts from the Netflix documentary, which are super authentic and leave you hungry for more information. I don’t believe in some of the characters and find Fawley to be one of the weakest - I wonder why his are the only entries which are preceded by his name, is it because he has a very indistinct voice and we might not know it was him?I think there is some benefit in reading at least one of the other books first for character development and to maximise the enjoyment of the story, however, each of the stories has its uniqueness.
