Igor is Tyler, the Creator's fifth studio album release on a record label; however, Tyler has referred to the project as his sixth album, considering his debut mixtape Bastard as an album. On June 3, 2019, Tyler announced his forthcoming tour for the album, which was supported by Jaden Smith, Blood Orange, and GoldLink.

Tyler produced the beat for "Gone, Gone" in 2013 while on tour for his second studio album Wolf, choosing to scrap the song from both Cherry Bomb and Flower Boy since he didn't feel it fit either of those albums. The lyrics act more as another instrument throughout most of this record, and not a thing to be studied. As the title says, it’s ethereal, it takes me to a whole different fucking headspace when I hear it, in a way few other albums could even dream of.

Yes, the mastering could be better (bass are great, medium not very apparent) but hey, it's still an hip-hop record so it checks where it needs to. The second half where twinkly synths feel as though they are climbing is so cool, and snaps are so random and interesting. At first everything sounded fine, and then through certain songs, the vocals seem to be drowned out by the instrumentals, which wasn’t really there in the digital version.

Igor debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 165,000 album-equivalent units, of which 74,000 were pure album sales. The bridge, with its intense bass line and simple and far synth is so cool, and the beat switches to his pure rage and even harder bass line is so cool.

On songs like EARFQUAKE he really shows how much sadness he is feeling while there are songs like WHATS GOOD and NEW MAGIC WAND where he is almost trying to act like he does not care. Interlude/Boyfriend: I have this album on cd, so when i hear this song I bop like crazy, but I haven't listened enough times to dissect. The synth never really loves, giving a comfortable platform from which you can enjoy the rest of the instrumentation. Some of the piano work on this song is so beautifully implemented that it stands out over the vocals.I’ve listened to this album so many times, I know it note for note, lyric for lyric, I’m completely and utterly convinced by its story and emotional depth, and the production is so beautiful and layered, so seemingly simplistic and yet so busy. Can sellers who aren’t selling this with the sticker and poster stop listing it under this specific release? It also explicitly lays out the albums theme of unrequited love with a series of addictive lyrical phrases, in a way that is relatively common on this album (see GONE, GONE). The beat has a darker twist, if he had made this beat earlier in his career it might have ended up under a horrorcore flow. From an objective standpoint, the production is amazing, and conveys the simple feeling of rising tension.
