It has stood up to some pretty strong coastal wind/rain and we have no complaints at all about its build quality. It also comes with it’s own pump, which is the same as the one supplied with the tent itself – which now means you have a spare pump if one breaks. The air pressure for the Berghaus Air 8 inflatable family tent should be between 4psi and 7psi. How easy is it to take down the Berghaus Air 8 tent? Given the generous variety in size, we have a few air tents to cover in this review. We also include the XL models which people tend to gloss over, but they are well worth the extra space/features when you’re camping with extras, whether that be little humans or additional camping gear. Recommended tent pressure: between 4psi and 7psi – temperature and outdoor pressure can affect the pressure within the tube. Please note over inflation can cause the tubes to burst.

Front porch area (380cm x 100cm) with decent ground sheet. Perfect for sitting on to remove muddy boots. The outer covering has a 6000mm hydrostatic head which means it’s extremely waterproof and will survive a biblical deluge. The quality of the fabric and the size of the tent means that it’s a hefty weight though – 28.3kg. Could be a two-person effort to shift it if you’re not built like Sylvester Stallone.

There is an access hatch for the electric hookup cable to be passed through, which seems like an easy feature to include, but is missed by many manufacturers – we need our mod cons! Maybe not for the tallest campers We also use the porch area to dump all of our wet and muddy walking gear. This means that the main living space doesn’t get as dirty as it would if we were tramping about through the entire tent. It makes for a great changing area, and all in all it allows us to keep the main living area less cluttered, cleaner and easier to get around. The sleep spaces have plenty of storage and are lined with darkened walls to help keep light from flooding in early in the morning. Light and air enter the tent through adjustable windows and vents, and superior waterproofing can be found throughout the structure.

We spent three weeks in the Berghaus 8 man blow up tent during our summer holidays in France and Spain and we look forward to many more years of family camping in it. As a family of 5 now, it’s definitely the most budget-friendly way to holiday and one of the most free and fun!It is more than just an awning, it is a real extension to our living area and it offers you a lot more flexibility with your camping setup. This latter point – the feel – shouldn’t be underestimated. The Berghaus 6XL feels like a luxury ‘proper’ tent. The kind you used to go off camping in with the scouts. It is a quality item and really will not disappoint. Absolutely no condensation in the mornings either.

It’ll keep them busy and away from getting up to mischief while you’re trying to take down the tent! It took a while figuring out how to put it up due to the air escaping rapidly, because the instructions were vague. The front of the Sierra Ridge is interesting. It consists of a large windowed section which provides great views of the outside world. The window can be handily covered up with an in-built blind to stop light shining in (or to stop people ogling!). On nice days, the whole of the front can be rolled up, providing great views and airflow. One thing to note is that the front section is not fully zipped (it uses velcro at the bottom) and so you have to be careful how you peg it out to avoid rain water seeping in. Manageable weight – some of the larger >6 person tents can get seriously heavy at >50kg – the canvas/polycotten inflatable tents are typically heavier than polyester.The Portal uses three inflatable arches to create two main rooms within – a front 300 x 260 cm lounge area having windows to the front and both sides, and a single large bedroom at the rear measuring 210 x 300cm. Blowing up the airbeams is a simple affair using the supplied hand pump and only takes a minute or two.
